I grew up in Lewes, East Sussex, studying at the then Priory School until 1986. At 16 I began working as a draughtsman in the Civil Engineering dept of Lewes District Council, where I gained an ONC in Building Studies at the Brighton College of Technology. From there I joined East Sussex CC Highways to work as a draughtsman, and then to the Brighton Borough Council Estates Department also as a draughtsman.

In 1994 I had a change of career and joined the Fire Service, for East Sussex Fire and Rescue, working as a fire-fighter at Brighton. Following a move to live in London I joined Surrey Fire and Rescue in 1999, where I was promoted to the rank of Crew Commander in 2002.

Home and Sussex by the Sea though was calling and so in 2006 I returned to live in Brighton, returning to East Sussex Fire and Rescue and for two years served the City of Brighton and Hove as the Community Fire Safety Manager. Since then I have returned to operational duty working as a Crew Commander.

In 2015 I married my wife and since then we have had a very healthy young boy, this has been the catalyst for embarking on a new journey, setting up in a business as chimney sweep, to prepare for the time fast approaching when I need to hang up my firekit.

In March 2017 I completed a chimney sweep training course with the Association of Professional Independent Chimney Sweeps and in March 2018 I qualified as a full professional member of APICS. In May 2018 I hope to complete the HETAS course and be registered as a HETAS qualified competent stove installer and carry on building the business.

I very much looking forward to this new venture and hope you have the faith and confidence in me as my customers, as I aim to deliver a professional, diligent service, working to the highest standard possible.
